The key factor of this study is the use and role of social robots in human's language development. The main robot that we use is Furhat who is on the way to be the world's leading Social Robot.

Design

Designed to interact with humans; It constantly receives software updates and it is a safe and friendly robot. Furhat has the ability to maintain eye contact and follow the user smoothly by the neck movements.

Portability

Furhat is very compact and it is easy to take it to the schools, home, and laboratories.

Intelligence

Benefits from advanced speech technologies. Can have complex conversations and understand the user in many langauegs.

Language Learning

Furhat makes a very suitable robot for research purposes in general. It's advance speech synthesizer and speech recognizer technologies make it also specifically good for language research studies. That is why we chose Furhat as the main social robot of this project.
